Why are you interested in researching this topic?
I am interested in this topic because it’s amazing how the website is like a community for teenagers. When they’re on Tumblr they have so much freedom. It becomes an outlet where people can vent and talk about whatever they want and they won’t feel judged because everyone on Tumblr can relate or understand. Most people are anonymous, so no one can search your name and find your Tumblr. Some people use Tumblr to express themselves truthfully and other people use it to be someone completely different, like an alter ego. It’s your decision how you want to use it. They would need to know your username on the site to find you. Most people keep their Tumbrs a secret from their “real life” friends. It’s a whole other world/life for most users. I don’t know of anything else that is like Tumblr.
How do you personally connect with this topic?
I think Tumblr is a great website to use. I have one and use it every day. It brings people together and gives you a place to let your guards down, so you can be yourself without being judged because everyone is on that site for the same reason. So they can be themselves and I think that says a lot about society.
